COMPARE AND CONTRAST ESSAY
We were required to write a compare and contrast essay of two selected movies, either movie based on true stories or Superhero movies. For this assignment, I chose Superhero movie, my favourite movie genre, a preferred genre over movie based on true story, as I usually do not watch. I was really happy when Ms Cassies told us that we have to write an essay about superheroes. The two Superhero movies that I have selected were Spiderman and Ironman.
Reflection:
I really love this assignment a lot, as I got an excuse to re-watch my favourite superhero movie in these busy months. From this assignment, I have learned to analyze and interpret the movies as well as understand the concept of the movie more advance. Besides, I have also learned how to write compare/contrast essay. I was able to write 4 differences of the movie after watching them. It was definitely a great practice, which will come in handy in the future.
ENGLISH RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT
We were required to study two trade or businesses in any part of Peninsula Malaysia (or any other small town that is approved by the instructor) or the Klang Valley. We need to focus our study on two examples of the same type of trade/business for our research. Besides, this research assignment must be conducted through a combination of both primary sources. Forming a group of 6 with Julie How, Amanda Ng, Wendy Liew, Egbert Chin and Kaizer Ooi, we chose beverage industry (tea & coffee) for this research assignment and we conducted our interview and research on two beverage business, Purple Can (tea) which is located in Kuala Lumpur and Moustache Houze in Penang.
Reflections:
It was really fun doing this assignment with my groupmates in Penang. Throughout this assignment, i have learned and understand more about the beverage business and understand the basics steps involved in preparing the research report. I was also able to apply APA style citation accurately and effectively in the research report. For the formal presentation, I was able to improve on my public speaking skills and understand different forms and methods of arguments used in different circumstances and bring out different result in different individuals in negotiations and persuasions.
