EIFFEL TOWER

Reflections:

Throughout this assignment, i've definately gained some sketching skills and rendering skills like cross-hatching and stippling as well as colouring skills. I was able to express my creativity, self-expression and visual awareness by using self-develop drawing techniques and different combination of media which had different results of drawing. It was really a great chance for us to play around with different materials and explore more about it.

TECHNICAL DRAWING

We were required to sketch and conduct measurement to produce 6 technical drawings of plans, elevations, sections and details of two daily objects. The purpose of this project was to provide a good understanding on the fundamental concept that constitute in architectural drawings and some drawing conventions.

So, I chose to draw my toner bottle and hair conditional bottle for this project.

DETAIL

Reflection:

I find this project challenging and it was a great experiance and exercise for drawing the plan, elevations, sections and details drawings of the daily object at we use, as I had to observe and visualize what I see and measure the object carefully and look into every single details. Although this project seemed easy, but It wasn't easy at all to measure a 3 dimensional object and generate it into a 2 dimensional form. From this project, I have also learned how to apply simple mathematics like measurements and scales into the drawings. I did a lot of mistake, but everything learns from a mistake, i hope i can do better next time.

SITE ANALYSIS

Project 3 consists of 2 parts, Part-A students have to conduct a site study in the vicinity of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus and produce a site analysis report and verbal presentation. we were required to form a group of 5-6 to carry out a site analysis on the site given. Forming a group of 6 with How Lee Jing, Amanda Ng, Kelvin Yong, Tze Wei and Joshua Lee, our site given by our lecturers is at the second floor between Block C to Block D. We need to produce site plan, site sections, site elevations, natural elements such as plants. We were also required to do the SWOT of the building which is the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat.

Reflection:

This project helps me to identify and understand what are the key factors affecting the site and how things can be present in a systematic and analytical ways in drawings. Knowing the details of the site make me understand even better and able to develop my designs for part b by using the knowledge I gained.

DISPLAY UNIT

Based on the site analysis that we did on part a, we were now need to design and build a bookstand to display it on our site. This final project required us to do some research and undergo some thinking process to come up with an art installation on the given site individually. We were given 4 themes to choose, there's Pixar, Picasso, Mural, and Graffiti. The final art installation has to be functional, practical, and to be created creatively after much thinking process and the final design and the purpose of building that art installation has to be approved by respective tutors.

Concept and idea development:

I chose Picasso as my theme. I named my bookstand as "The Cubision". The concept of The Cubision is based on cubist and the idea of vision, as well as the meaning of colour. There are two different colours of one-sided eye inside the half circular shape model, and another two colours of the iris. The colour represent the mood, attitude, behaviour and the vision of student.

Reflection:

This project was hard for me as my ideas were being rejected twice. But, I was able to recover from it and work harder on the concepts and designs of my design to make it a successful one at last. Throughout this project, I've understand and experienced the process of proposing a design or idea in terms of architecture. In addition, I'm glad that i  get to experience how to work with a variety of visual model making. After the interim silent pin-up, I have also learned to include the important informations that I would like to showcase to my lecturers.
