BACK TO OUR ROOTS

In a group of two, we were required to do a research about our family as well as produce a graphic time-line with a family tree and also an infographic board representing one of our family culture and traditions. Besides, we were also exposed to structure and interview and make a 10 minutes video of the interview and the research that has been done.

After futher consideration and discussion, my group member, Julie How and i came into a conclusion that we decided to work on Julie's family instead of mine, because her place is much nearer compared to mine as my hometown is in Sarawak, Kuching.

Progression:

We are required to present our family tree together with a timeline calender and an infographic board consisting family's geographical, historical, cultural, economical and political backgrounds, family's characteristics and traditions on 2 A3 size board. After doing some drafts on our ideas of doing it, we agreed to use foam to make it attractive.

Reflections:

Throughout this assignment, i've learnt more about my family's history, culture and traditions. On top of that, I felt that lving in the past was not easy especially during the World War II compare to the present. Like my grandfather was caught by Japanese for not greeting them left my pregnant grandmother alone, suffering from the pain without the help of anyone. How lucky we are living in this generation without the need of fear from war. Besides, I also developed skills of gathering data through interviews and researches and skills of presenting information in an interesting way.

MESSAGES FROM THE PAST

There are 2 parts for this project. Part I - We were required to film and edit the movie that lecturer have chosen for us show it during our screening day which need to be done in a group.

As for Part 2 - Each of us need to produce an individual journal on the character chosen to show our understanding of the movie. The objectives of this project is to examine the similarities and differences between Eastern and Western civilizations

We got Troy as our movie

Summary:

It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband, Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnon to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy. The whole movie shows their battle struggles and the foreshadowing of fate in this

Reflections:

This project allows me to visit Melacca for the very first time. I had lots of fun with my group members as we visit many places, filming video for this projectAlthough we spent day and night working on props, costumes and video filming, it does amplifies our knowledge, experiences in model making and some sewing skills as I have to sew some of the parts for my costume. Sewing was't really that bad after all and I find it quite fun though. And of course, throughout this assignment, i've understand more about eastern and western civilizations. This is definately one of the most interesting and challenging project I have done in this subject.

ART ARCHITECTURE CULTURE

Project 3 is an individual assignment, we were required to do our work individually by producing 10 A5 postcards which contain the elements of art and culture. We were also required to choose a theme and concept of either food culture or architecture.

So what's my topic? I chose to tell a story about the chocolate 'war' between 3 chocolate dessert shops by comparing the environment, design, taste of chocolate and costumer of these 3.
